[Source]
Wow! Hasn't it been such a long time since I've made a post.
Don't mean to boast, but I've just returned from a lovely 10 days of annual leave!
Truth is, I've missed this most of all... So I thought I better find something for you lovely cherubs to look at for today... And let me tell you something, this is cute, inexpensive, and clutter-free!

The Photo Clock.

D.I.Y. Decorating Tip No.3

Catch the eyes of your visitors with some of your clan's favorite moments with this bright DIY wall clock.

Bring together:
13 frames, sizes 2" x 3" to 4" x 6" (unify mismatched frames with chalkboard paint, available at Bunnings, or any other hardware store, you just need to buy a sample tin)

12 photos

a clock kit (from a crafts store)

white paper and cardboard (to hide clock mechanism).

Pop snapshots into 12 frames. Take out the remaining frame's glass; use it as a guide to cut cardboard and paper to fit, and place in frame. Poke a hole through center to fit the clock's spindle. Push spindle through; reattach the clock's hands. Hang as shown.

You could also do the with any pictures you like:
Vintage garden seed packets,
Woodland animals,
or frame up some pressed flowers or feathers.

The Bookends.

D.I.Y Decorating Tip No.2

[Source]

Kick start a new use or two for a diner-style napkin dispenser: Turn it into a entertaining frame that doubles as a bookend. Locate a chrome holder at restaurant supply stores or at bakedeco.com ($6.25 and up). Get a portion of cardboard, outline the dispenser's shape onto it, and cut it out. Tidy your photo so it is of identical size. Double sided tape them as one, insert the piece into the holder's opening, and enjoy.

The Mantelpiece.

D.I.Y Decorating Tip No.1

[Source]
Arrange books both horizontally and vertically on your mantelpiece,
together with collectables, mirrors, plants and anthing that suits your home.
This creates a carefully chosen look, rather than chaos.
It's also a nice conversation piece, and adds a touch of spring with the colder months gone.

Check out thriftydecorchick.blogspot.com for some inspiration on inexpensive mantel ideas.
